Directions: Create a project at school and/or home that demonstrates your learning. This project DOES NOT have to be a week-long, huge deal. I would rather see students focus on something they have learned. This is something you should be able to complete in a couple of hours time. I am providing plenty of class time for this throughout the week. Anything at home can be used to make the project better, or expand upon something you did at school.
Summative assessment Project:
What evidence will we look for?
Demonstrate how a natural cycle impacts living things.
Students need to show something they have learned this quarter. Specifically, how do Earth's natural cycles impact living things?
Student Reflection: “I used to know…. Now I know….”
Possible Project Ideas:
Paper
Poster
Powerpoint
Video
Play/Skit
Pamphlet
Rubric will be used to assess:
Apply- Student can apply knowledge of one of Earth’s natural cycles and use it in the project to demonstrate understanding of how it impacts living things.
Explain- Student can explain impact of the cycle as it relates to a living thing.
Self Knowledge- Project details a student reflection of how the unit enhanced their understanding. “I used to know…. Now I know….”
Facets: 1) explain 2) interpret 3) apply 4) perspective 5) empathy 6) self knowledge

This year students will have 5 science units of study. They include: Earth, Sun, Moon; Energy, Electricity, and Magnetism; Properties and Changes of Matter; Relationships and Requirements of Living Things.
Also, this year, students are doing even MORE SCIENCE during specials. Our new special called "science and technology" has encouraged inquiry and investigation with our science concepts.
