12-10-14- Update...while 5th grade is beginning to program their robots, we have had a couple of times where we couldn't meet. Therefore, we are a little behind in getting our robots completed...
We are still working hard to get them finished as soon as we can.
WE ARE THINKERS!!!!Believe me, there are many complicated directions with the Mindstorms. Our number one objective right now is continuing............TEAMWORK! Nice job fourth grade Lego Club!
11-10-14- There will be no Lego Club this week (11/13). Mr. McCarty has a meeting after school.
Update (10-22-14): Lego Club is in full force, as all of the groups are working hard at putting together their robots. Each group of 5 students has selected their own robot to work on. Mr. McCarty and Ms. Day's classes selected the EVERSTORM. Mrs. Raymond's class chose the TRACKER, while Ms. Homant's group went for the SPIKER.
Mr. Mitchell is here and will be helping the club with the computer programming aspect of the Mindstorms. He brings over 15 years of computer programing experience and a wealth of knowledge in science and technology field. We thank him for volunteering to help us!
Be sure to check out all of the cool pictures of our group, which will be posted HERE!!!
The CSI Lego Club will be coming soon! We start on October 8th. It will be on Wednesdays from 3-4pm. Fourth grade will have 5 students per class, while 5th grade will also have 5 per class. Registration is based on a first come, first serve basis. In other words, students who get their permission slips back first, will be chosen.
Basic Club Format:
work in collaborative teams to build different robots.
use computer programming to get the robot to perform certain tasks.
use problem solving, communication skills, and teamwork!
Eventually, we would like to have competitions where the 4th and 5th grade teams compete against each other in performing robot tasks.
We are still working hard to get them finished as soon as we can.
